Opened in 1918 as one of the most elegant and modern hotels in Europe, the Fürstenhof in Bad Eilsen was a meeting place for high nobility, artists and personalities from business and politics. During the Second World War, the Fürstenhof was used for military purposes before serving as the headquarters of the Royal Air Force after the end of the war. The building then stood empty for a long time.
In the spring of 2020, the Fürstenhof reopened after two and a half years of extensive renovation. Today it serves as one of four wards of the rehabilitation centre of the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Braunschweig-Hannover.
The historic rooms on the first floor, which are now used as event and conference rooms, were restored in close consultation with the heritage authorities. Pendant luminaires from Lightnet's Ringo Star range have been used as modern chandeliers to provide atmospheric, perfectly coordinated lighting.
