Back to nature: closeness to the environment meets simple elegance Our Basic series completes the concept of sustainable design

The Bodelschwingh School in Nürtingen, a facility for pupils with special educational needs, has been expanded and redesigned. The architectural firm fritzen 28 focused on creating a clear and structured learning environment using natural materials. In particular, the chosen colour scheme forms a symbiosis with the surroundings: red-bronze clinker brickwork inside and out conveys a sense of well-being, while trees and open spaces create a connection with nature. After about a year of use, architects Katrin Kussinna and Hansjörg Schwarz from fritzen 28 received feedback from the school management. ‘The children react calmly to the materials,’ says Schwarz. ‘The increased well-being of the pupils also has a positive effect on the learning environment.’

The design concept is rounded off by the Basic luminaires from Lightnet. As a circular luminaire series, Basic offers creative professionals a wide range of design options. In the Bodelschwingh School, for example, this timeless design, as a pendant and surface-mounted luminaire in a rich gold colour, emphasises the atmospheric spatial effect.
