Holistic architecture according to the Māori design principles The light lines from Liquid Line merge with the interior design

In 2022, Trustpower recognised the signs of the times and opened a new chapter in its history by renaming itself Manawa Energy. Harnessing the power of nature, they now specialise in renewable energy and want to make a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of New Zealand. The company, whose identity is reflected in its name, which means ‘heart’, places a high value on partnerships with local communities and the sustainable use of natural resources.

For the new headquarters in Tauranga, the architects at Wingates found their inspiration in Māori design principles. With a particular focus on sustainability, community and flexible working practices, the culture and history of the Tauranga Moana region are also integrated. The architecture brings nature indoors. Wide window fronts, muted, cosy colour compositions in green and blue and the use of lots of wood express the Manawa Energy attributes: partnership, kaitiakitanga (environmental stewardship), community and whakapapa (genealogy). The interior design is completed by the lines of light from the Liquid Line series. The luminaires can be precisely adapted to individual requirements and guide the eye of the viewer through the rooms. The organic, fluid shape of Liquid Line allows free rein to the imagination in terms of design and forms, while meeting all sustainability requirements and more. With our unique, self-developed LED technology and a sustainability philosophy that includes producing almost every small component of our luminaires ourselves, we take responsibility for people and the environment.
